I already own a 55 gallon fish tank with a stand. I haven’t ordered anything yet, but I have came up with a list of all the things I plan on getting. Please tell me any knowledge you have of any of the items or if you suggest something different.

Item list-
-55 gallon glass fish tank
-Stand fitted for tank
-Marineland Magnum Canister Filter 350 Pro
-SeaClone Protein Skimmer SCPS 100
-Penguin Powerhead Model 550 x 2
-Hydor Theo Heater 200 watt x 2
-Portable Refractometer
-Instant Ocean Reef Crystals Synthetic Sea Salt 150 gallon bucket
-Thermometer
-Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand 60lb

Looking for a good test kit also.

As for the things i plan on putting into the tank i’m not sure of. I want to add at least 60 pound of live rock for filtration. The only fish I have a strong desire to add to the tank is a Ocellaris Clownfish. Could someone please come up with a list of tank mates i can add in with my 3-4 Clownfish?

Thanks!

I have a newly created 30-gallon saltwater tank that contains 40lbs of live sand and about 30lbs of live fiji rock. It’s only been up and running for a few days to begin cycling. I wanted to see what types of coral (when ready) will do well in this new system and not be extremely difficult to maintain?

My hood can handle 18watts max per bulb so have 2 lamps on it (best I can do):
-A 17watt Ocean Sun 10,000K
-And a Reef Sun 50/50

-Powerhead with Wavemaker

Avg. temp 84* F
Specific gravity: 1.021

I want to get several types of live coral, polyps, mushrooms and/or sponges if possible. I was thinking like torch coral, toadstool coral, trumpet coral etc. What types of live coral do you recommend for this setup? I probably prefer soft coral over hard. Thanks for your help.

Reef aquarium question?

I have recently bought a used nano reef aquarium. When I bought it, the tank was pretty run down, but there was live rock, live sand and some other misc creatures (small feather duster and a few small clams..I think). I did a complete water switch and waited for the cycle. I showed a small spike in ammonia on the second day after the change and now 5 days after the change there is no ammonia or nitrite and a reading of 20 on nitrate. I am also pretty sure that it finished cycling because there is a sudden growth of green dust looking algae. I also noticed that the small clams (if they are clams) are emitting tiny white embryos (I think) out of their syphons. Should I go ahead with my clean up crew. I have had a 201 powerhead running a 80gph hob filter and a 50w tronic heater in this 7 g mini bow setup. Let me know what you think……Lastly I have been seeing these really tiny half orange half black hairy worms. what are they? Bristle worms?
Please only answer if you are experienced reefer and have an idea of what I am talking about. All answers are appreciated but I really need to know which direction to go from someone who knows themself

Saltwater reef aquarium setup quesiton!?

Here is my setup as of now, barely begin my setup up. I have about 10lbs of live rock that I got from a LPS and I didn’t cure it I just place it in my main tank. Add saltwater, a heater, a powerhead and my refugium is flowing with some macro algae in the refugium. Is this a good way to cycle a tank. I have live sand with live bacteria in it by nature’s ocean. it has a bio activ live aragonite with millions of bacteria in 1 bad. The bag says no waiting just add fish. But I’m leaving it out for now. Good or bad? or should i just place the live sand in it as well? and am I doing the correct way. meaning everything so far?
