What do i need to setup a marine reef tank?
ive been running this tank for about 6 months now but i have a 1 yearold fish only tank awell.
my reef tank is a 180L tank with T5 lighting and good protien skimmer. i also have the filter that came with the tank (600lph)and 2 powerheads which are on at different times.
inside is 4 seahorses a cleaner wrass, 2 cleaner shrimps, a manderin fish (who does eat frozen foods) and a gobie, 2 oysters and some snails and stuff.
i also have a newish zoanthids with about 40 heads and a mushroom leather coral. i am currently only adding vitamins and marine snow as food.
i have no room for a sump but i was wondering is there anything else i need to give my reef tank the best start possible?

I have been doing Reefs for over 30 years and what you have is a fine start. If you are thinking of getting into hard corals or some you will have to add some better lighting. I would consider adding either VHO or MH lighting. These stand for Very High Output and Metal Halide these lights will be the most expensive thing you will every purchase. They will give you the ability to take it to the next level. Hard corals will need upwards towards 5 watts per gallon. There is also a product called Marc Weise Reef Mud it is a power that will increase the life on your live rock. You can find it in most Pet Shops that carry a god selection of saltwater fish and corals. If not you can find it online at http://www.liveaquaria.com/ I answer allot of questions both here and other forums as well. I also answer questions at my email address if you use the subject line of fish fish fish. My email address is barrygeller@yahoo.com I hope this was helpful. Have fun that is what this hobby is all about.
